Technician
I am an Industrial Engineer who graduated from ITESO University in Guadalajara, Mexico. I later moved to Barcelona to pursue a Master of Science in Statistics and Operations Research offered by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the Universitat de Barcelona. I have professional experience across industry, and research, with a focus on data analysis, optimization, programming, and engineering. I always have been fascinated by the ocean and its ecosystems; as a scuba diver, I have had close encounters with marine environments. This fascination, together with a strong motivation to contribute to ocean protection, led me to begin my scientific career in 2024 through a JAE Intro project at the Institut de Ciències del Mar. Working with my supervisors and peers, I developed a theoretical approximation of seabird migratory journeys using operations research methodologies. I am very happy to join the iMares team and continue contributing to marine research.
Current Research:
I am currently working on the MOIRAI European project, which focuses on the Western Mediterranean Sea. The project’s objective is to analyze model outputs related to regional climate impacts, fisheries, and ecosystem dynamics. This work involves the development and application of improved regional biogeochemical (BGC) and ecological models, as well as multi-scale coastal models for risk and impact assessment, demonstration, and validation across a variety of use cases.
In addition, I am contributing to the development of an app designed to approximate seabird migration pathways using mathematical approaches such as shortest-path algorithms and dynamic programming.
