Senior Researcher
I earned my degree in Environmental Sciences (2002) from UMH of Elche with a mention award. From 2003–2008, I completed a PhD on the foraging ecology of pelagic predators at the Universitat de Barcelona (FPI fellowship), expanding my expertise through research stays in France, Germany, and Australia. Between 2008–2019, I held six postdoctoral positions across institutions including Estación Biológica de Doñana (CSIC), British Antarctic Survey (NERC), ICM-CSIC, and CNRS Montpellier. In 2017, I returned to ICM-CSIC with a Ramón y Cajal contract, and since 2021, I serve as a Tenured Scientist investigatingon the ecology, behaviour, and conservation of wildlife in exploited ecosystems.
Current Research:
I am interested in the study of the ecology, behavior and conservation of wildlife, mainly marine predators, living in human-exploited ecosystems. I have special interest in understanding their ecological roles in the ecosystems, their trophic relationships at the food-web level and the main ecological and evolutionary factors, including natural and human-mediated factors, that modulate their behavioural patterns, interspecific interactions and distribution patterns. In addition to the ecological and biological relevance of our research, I am particularly interested in the transference between science and conservation applications by providing holistic tools for the solution of management conflict.
