Software engineer
Jeroen Steenbeek (PhD) is a classically trained software engineer with extensive experience in industrial, commercial and academic settings, and has been a core programmer of the Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) food web modelling approach for over 20 years.
One of Jeroen’s passions is to interconnect disparate sciences to make the process of ecosystem modelling better, and to make marine ecosystem models available to policy makers and society in general.
Current Research:
Besides EwE development, I participate in EU projects ActNow, Ecoscope, MarinePlan, MOIRAI, NECCTON, SURIMI and technically support EU project GES4Seas to deploy, develop and interconnect marine ecosystem models with other sciences.
Research Interests:
Tool development and solving technical challenges, in order to interconnecting differences sciences and to bring sciences to the wider public.
