PhD Candidate
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Porto (2020 to 2023) and a Master’s in Marine Biology from the University of Algarve (2023 to 2025). My biochemistry background allowed me to developed laboratory techniques and skills that I continue to apply in my current research. While my training started in the lab, I discovered my passion for marine research during my Master’s. For my Master’s thesis, I studied how air pollution affects urban gulls and explored their potential as bioindicators of environmental contamination.
Current Research:
My current research (Project: Allies) builds on my Master’s work, as I continue to explore the physiological impacts of pollution in urban gulls, and extends it to investigate how these species can be used as bioindicators of pollutant distribution in highly anthropogenic environments.
