PhD candidate
I am Alba Fuster-Alonso, a PhD student in Statistics and Optimization. I initially pursued Marine Sciences at the University of Alicante (UA), graduating in 2020. During my bachelor’s degree, I discovered a strong interest in research and statistics, which motivated me to pursue a master’s degree in Biostatistics at the University of Valencia (UV). During my master’s program, I was awarded a research grant that enabled me to collaborate with the Department of Statistics and Operations Research on the Bayesian modeling of complex correlated data. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Statistics and Optimization at UV and at the Institute of Marine Sciences. My research is supervised by Marta Coll (ICM-CSIC), Jose María Bellido (IEO-CSIC), and David Conesa (UV). My doctoral work focuses on developing Bayesian hierarchical spatio-temporal models to analyze the cumulative effects of global change and project plausible future scenarios for the world’s oceans.
Current Research:
I am currently working on the ProOceans project, which focuses on improving marine ecosystem models (MEMs) to better project the cumulative effects of global change and future ocean conditions. My work involves developing frameworks and methods to integrate MEMs with statistical models, enhancing the accuracy and realism of predictions under climate change scenarios.
